Pickleball–Royal Court Drop-In

A fun, flexible way to play! Perfect for players who want fast-paced games and fresh matchups without the weekly commitment.

Each week, players are paired with different partners and opponents in fast-paced doubles matches. At the start of each session, league staff assign players to one of four ranked courts based on current standings—the top court is the Royal Court, where challengers aim to reign.

Royal Court sessions run 45–90 minutes, with most players playing about three games. Players rotate through courts based on match results—win and move up, lose and move down. After each round, teams split and new partners are assigned. Winning a game earns you 2 points; losing earns you 1. Points are earned every time you play, and scores accumulate over the season. Standings are updated weekly, so the more you play, the more you can rack up.

Before the season starts, players must review the Rec League Handbook and Pickleball Rules.

  1. Login and pay the drop-in session fee to register up to two days in advance. If you are a MacEwan student, use your student email to get the student rate.
  2. Walk-ins are welcome as court space permits. Walk-ins must check in and pay the drop-in fee at the Welcome Desk before proceeding to the gymnasium.
  3. Review the Pickleball–Royal Court rules before your first session.
  4. At your first session, you’ll be required to sign a waiver.
  5. Royal Court runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on league days—drop in anytime! We’ll loosely run two waves of play at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. If courts are full, players from the earlier wave will be rotated out to make space. For the best chance at a full hour, try to arrive near the start of a wave.
