Run by students for students, sport clubs provide a unique opportunity to explore new interests, connect with like-minded individuals, and forge lasting friendships. While there are no scheduled games, these clubs offer valuable training and instructional opportunities in a variety of activities. Clubs vary by term.

Get Involved

Thinking about starting a new sport club? You're in the right place! Our Sport Club Coordinators are here to guide you through the application process from start to finish. Follow these initial steps to get started:

  1. Review the Sport Club Handbook
    Gather all the information needed for your application. Section 5 (page 22) of the Handbook outlines everything you’ll need to include.
  2. Set up a Meeting
    Email babcocke3@macewan.ca to schedule a meeting with a Sport Club Coordinator.
  3. Complete Your Application
    Fill out your application and any other required documentation provided by the Sport Club Coordinator.

Application Deadlines

New Winter Term Clubs: October 15
We'll guide you through the application process over the Fall term to have your club running by the start of the winter term.

New Fall Term Clubs: March 15
We'll guide you through the application process over the Fall term to have your club running by the start of the fall term.

Existing Club Renewals: March 31
All existing clubs must renew annually by this date to continue running for the Fall and/or Winter terms.

You must be a MacEwan University student, Sport and Wellness member, or MacEwan staff or faculty member to participate in sport club programs. To join a club, complete the following steps:

  1. Complete and Submit the Get Active Questionnaire
    This form is also available at the Welcome Desk. Submit the completed questionnaire in person at the Welcome Desk.
  2. Pay for Your Membership
    Pay for your membership at the Welcome Desk.
  3. Complete the Membership Registration Form
    Within 72 hours of payment, the Recreation team will email you the link to the Membership Registration Form. This form must be submitted before participating in any sport club activities.

If you're interested in gaining valuable volunteer experience in club management, we have opportunities available for various positions, including president, treasurer, risk management officer, and more. To find out more about volunteering with a club, email babcocke3@macewan.ca.
